Hillary Clinton has served many roles in US politics – first lady, senator, secretary of state. Now, she turns for a second time to her long-held ambition to fill the ultimate role-Us president. The 67-year-old served as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state from the start of his administration in January 2009, stepping down shortly after he won re-election. As top US diplomat, she was known for a punishing travel schedule and a person-to-person approach to diplomacy.
A leading international figure and Democratic politician, Mrs. Clinton is now running for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination. She previously lost the 2008 Democratic primary to Mr. Obama. Hillary Diane Rodham was born in October 1947 in Chicago. In the 1960’s she attended Wellesley College Massachusetts, and became active in student politics. She went on to Yale Law School, where she met Bill Clinton. They married in 1975. She remained politically active after Mr. Clinton became governor of Arkansas in 1978. When Mr Clinton campaigned for the presidency in 1992, he quipped he was offering voters two presidents “for the price of one”. As first lady, Mrs Clinton campaigned for women’s rights and universal healthcare, raising her profile both at home and internationally.
However, following her failure to deliver on a plan for universal health coverage – which was ever even debated in Congress – many critics saw her as overambitious and politically naive. From the mid-1990s – and throughout during Clinton’s second term – she became involved in the various scandals that marred his presidency. There were congressional hearings and an investigation into the Whitewater affair, a failed real estate project in which the Clintons had invested.
Hillary Rodham Clinton first came to prominence as first lady. They were cleared of wrongdoing. She also endured media attention over Mr Clinton’s affairs- notably his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, which came to light in 1998. Hillary Rodham Clinton developed a tough hide that helped her weather the personal and political turmoil. She lashed out at her husband’s critics, declaring in a998 interview that the Lewinsky scandal – which led to impeachment proceedings – was inspired by a “vast right wing conspiracy”.
In 2000, as the Clinton presidency was drawing to a close, she successfully ran for senator in New York State, positioning herself in the centre of the Democratic Party. She voted for the invasion of Iraq I 2003 but distanced herself from the conduct of the conflict, and called for the withdrawal of US troops. She easily won re-election as a senator in 2006
In 2008 she sought the Democratic nomination for the presidential election. However, critics – including within her own party – saw her as a divisive figure for whom many Americans would never vote. In the end, Barack Obama secured the nomination and went on to win the general election. He named her as his secretary of state in an attempt to heal the rift within the Democratic party caused by a bruising primary campaign.. During her four-year tenure, Mrs Clinton visited 112 countries – more than any previous secretary of state. Mrs Clinton used her position to highlight women’s rights and human rights. She also led the US response to the Arab Spring and the military intervention in Libya in 2011. The state department came in for sustained criticism after an attack on a diplomatic compound in Benghazi in September 2012, in which the US ambassador was among those killed.
In a tense congressional hearing and one of her last public appearances as secretary, Mrs Clinton said she took responsibility for security failures at the outpost, but said she had not seen requests for more security beforehand. She returned to Congress to testify about the attack in October 2015. Despite answering questions more than 11 hours in front of a special committee, the hearing yielded little new information. After leaving the state department, Mrs Clinton continued to make public appearances and speeches on a limited schedule, ramping up for the publication for her second memoir, Hard Choices, which described her time as secretary of state.
Shortly before Mrs Clinton’s announcement of her candidacy, there were accusations that she may have breached federal rules during her time as secretary of state by using a private email account for official business, including potential sensitive information. She said that she used the personal emails as she “thought using one device would be simpler”. She has handed over 30,490 emails from the account to the State Department that her lawyers deemed “federal records”. Over the course of 2015, the state department has released thousands of the emails in question. After winning the lowa caucuses by a small and losing the New Hamsphire primary by more than 20 percentage points, she now faces a strong challenge from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. He is running to the left of Mrs Clinton on many issues and has gained in popularity, particularly among young votes.

DONALD TRUMP
Donald Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American 
businessman, politician, television personality, author, and the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for President of the United States in the 2016 election. Trump is the Chairman of the gaming and hotel enterprise Trump Entertainment Resorts (now owned by Carl Icahn).

Trump’s father was New York City real estate developer Fred Trump. The younger Trump had worked for his father’s firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son, while attending college. After graduating form the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968, he joined the company ad in 1971 was given controller, later renaming it the Trump Organization. He has since built casinos, golf courses, hotels, a New York City neighborhood, and other real estate properties, many of which bear his name. Trump and his businesses, as well as his here hosted The Apprentice, a popular NBC reality show, from 2004 to 2015.
Trump first campaigned for US presidency in 2000, and withdrew before any votes were cast, but afterwards won two Reform Party primaries. Om June 16, 2915, he again announced his candidacy for president, as a Republican. Trump became known for his apposition to illegal immigration, his opposition to various free-trade agreements that he regards as unfair, his frequently non-interventionist views on foreign policy, and his proposal to temporally ban foreign Muslims from entering the United States until Congress can determine how to address Islamic terrorism. Trump quickly emerged as the front-runner for the Republican nomination. His controversial remarks have inspired protests both opposing and supporting him.
After Trump won the 2016 Indianan primary, his main rival, Ted Cruz, suspended his campaigned. Accordingly, Republican chairman Reince Priebus declared Trump the party’s presumptive presidential nominee. Trump’s final remaining Republican rival, John Kasich, suspended his campaigned the next day.
Early life
Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, one of New York City’s boroughs. He was the fourth of five children of Marry Anne (nee Macleod; 1912-2000), a homemaker and philanthropist, and Fred Trump (105-1999), areal estate develop. His mother was born at Tong on the Scottish Island of Lewis and Harris. She immigrated to the United States in 1930 at age 18, and then worked as a domestic servant for about four years. She met Fred Trump and they were married in 1936, settling in Jamaica Estate, Queens. Fred Trump eventually became one of the city’s biggest real estate developer. Mary Anne Trump was naturalized as a US citizen on March, 1942.
Trump’s father was born in Woodhaven, Queens, to Fredrick and Elizabeth (nee) Christ) Trump, immigrants from Kallstadt, Germany. Fredrick worked as a successful Klondike Gold Rush restaurateur and possibly as a brothel keeper. In a 1979 New York Times Biographical profile, and again in his 1987 book, The Art of the Deal, Trump incorrectly stated that his grandfather Fredrick Trump was a of Swedish origin, an assertion that his father Fred Trump w made for many years ostensibly because”he had a lot of Jewish tenants and it wasn’t a good thing to be German”, according to a nephew indentified as family historian by the New York Times. Donald Trump later acknowledged his German ancestry and served as grand marshal of the 1999 German-American Steuben Parade in New York City.
Trump has one brother Robert (born 1948), and two sisters Maryanne (born 1937) and Elizabeth (born 1942). Maryanne is a United States federal judge on senior status for the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Another brother Fred Jr. 91938-1981), died of complications from alcoholism. The family had a two-story Tudor Revival home on Wareham Place in Jamaica Estates, where trump lived while attending The Kew-Forest School. At Kew-Forest, Fred Trump served as a member of the Board of Trustees. Due to behavior problems, Trump left the school at age 13 and was enrolled in the New York Military Academy (NYMA). In 1983, Fred told an interviewer that Donald “was a pretty rough fellow when he was small”. Trump finished eighth grade and high school at NYMA. During his senior year, Trump participated in marching drills and wore a uniform attaining the rank of captain. In 2015, he told a biographer that NYMA gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military”.
Trump attended Fordham University in the Bronx for two years. He entered the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, as Wharton then offered one of the few real estate studies department in US academia. While there, he worked at his father’s company, Elizabeth Trump & Son. Trump graduated from Wharton in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
Trump was eligible for the draft lottery during the Vietnam War. He was not drafted due to four students deferments (2.5) while attending college, as well as a medical deferment (1-Y, later converted to 4-F) obtained in 1968 after his college graduation, prior to the lottery being initiated. Trump was deemed fit for service after a military medical examination in 1966
And was briefly classified as 1-A by a local draft board shortly before his 1968 medical disqualification. Trump attributed his medical deferment to “heel spurs” in both feet according to a 2015 biography, but told reporters in 2015 that he could not immediately remember which foot (later that day he said both feet). “I actually got lucky because I had a very high draft number”, he told WNYW in 2011. Selective Service records retrieved by The Smoking Gun website from the National Archives confirms that Trump got a medical deferment and eventually received a high selective service lottery number in 1969.
