In the wake of the recent flood devastation in several states of the country washing away agricultural produce and displacing communities coupled with the prediction by metrological Service of persistent heavy down pour in Nigeria is prone to famine. Recently, states such as Anambra, Delta, Kogi, Niger and Benue States described as food basket of Nigeria were ravaged by flood.
The General Overseer of the Pilgrims Progress Outreach Ministry, agos, Pastor Johnson Osuagwu who made the revelation in an interview with African Landmark Magazine urged Nigerians to prepare against famine by stock piling food stuffs. He cautioned that Abuja, the nation’s capital would experience real earthquake in no distant time if necessary steps were not taken, stressing the annoyance of God with Nigeria for disobedience and not worshipping Him with fear, truth and sincerity.
Quoting a German-born Missionary, Ronald Buckey, he stated that the number of Pastors in Nigeria had grown from 1.5 million to 3.2 million presently, yet the Christian community is still far from being the chosen people while the country remains an undisciplined society. According to him, “if only 200 pastors can pray fervently with sincerity of purpose, God will come down and the country will be out of the woods. He decried the commercialization of church to the detriment of building moral character, citing the leadership of Winners church and Redeemed Christian Church of God as the first and second richest head s of churches in Africa.
Johnson Osuagwu who is also a Deputy General Manager, Air Traffic Control, Nigerian Airports Authority (NAA), explained that he had been preaching the word of God in several living churches in Lagos Area but had rejected the offer of envelope to the great amazement of his host, adding that such money should be given to the needy in the society.
On state of the nation, the General Overseer regretted that Nigeria with bountiful blessings from God is drifting and charged the leadership and followership to return to God in sincerity. He called on the Biafra agitators to abandon the movement and retrace their root, given the fact that apostles of Biafra neither experienced the Nigeria Civil war nor have what it takes to achieve their mission.
In another development, a business mogul Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim has advised the Federal Government to put adequate measures in place to cushion the effect of imminent global economic recession. Addressing newsmen in Abuja recently, he stated that global recession is something that will break out anytime from now and it is good that we are predicting it now before it happens. Said he: “This recession has a very interesting phase, the phase of massive failure of government as opposed to company failure. The last recession in 2018, companies went down, but this time around it is going to be both government and companies that will collapse”.
Dr. Ibrahim was emphatic that the recession is coming, and it is unavoidable. He revealed that balance sheet of the leading economy of the world; America is having a deficit of about a trillion dollars in import, while China is coming to Africa with money for the investment.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take steps in merging the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as part of preparation for unavoidable world recession.
